Where Our Funding Comes From
Big Local is an opportunity for residents in 150 areas around England to use at least £1m each to make a massive and lasting positive difference to their communities. It’s about bringing together all the local ambitions, skills and energy from individuals, groups and organisations who want to make their area an even better place to live.
Big Local is being run by Local Trust, which is working with over £200m from the Big Lottery Fund and a range of partners providing expert advice and support for residents. The four programme outcomes for Big Local are:
- Communities will be better able to identify local needs and take action in response to them.
- People will have increased skills and confidence, so that they continue to identify and respond to needs in the future.
- The community will make a difference to the needs it prioritises.
- People will feel that their area is an even better place to live.

OUR FUNDING PLANS FOR 2018 – 2020
We have already successfully delivered two years of community development and funding programmes through out The Pimlico Million area. We have now submitted our next plan to the Big Local which presents our strategy for delivery of funding and programmes of work through 2018 to 2020.
We will continue to offer small grants on a yearly basis to respond to ideas and needs identified by local residents and groups. The aim is to make the grants accessible and fund projects and groups that might find it difficult to find funding else where. We encourage anyone with a good idea to apply.
Key Programme Areas
Our key programme areas are Children & Families, Young People, Older People, Green Spaces, Local and Social Enterprise and Area Based Work. For this programme delivery we look to consult and work in partnership local residents, groups, charities and organisations to identify issues and needs so as to deliver and fund a flexible and responsive programme of projects and activities to make our area an even better place to be.
These programmes of work might include; offering training, advice clinics, supporting trips and outings, producing summer holiday youth programmes, providing legal advice, producing research, creating community events, developing local groups to deliver bigger projects, creating community gardens, improving local shared outdoor spaces and more.
We are always looking to build new relationships with local resident associations, community groups, charities and other organisations who deliver services and projects within The Pimlico Million area, so we can create new partnerships and network and work together to deliver activities which are led by local residents and communities.
The Pimlico Million is an unincorporated group led by a steering committee called The Partnership, and supported by a Locally Trusted Organisation The Thamesbank Centre. We currently have two p/t contractors who work as outreach and development managers to deliver our programmes. Over the next two years we plan to develop our organisation, with the hope of opening a local community hub space. Along with this new hub we hope to expand our team, incorporate the organisation and look at future opportunities for sustainability, to create a legacy from the work which is taking place through the Big Local funding we have received. Ideally by the end of our 10 years of funding, we want to to have the opportunity to continue our work through other means.
