Where Our Funding Comes From
Big Local is an opportunity for residents in 150 areas around England to use at least £1m each to make a massive and lasting positive difference to their communities. It’s about bringing together all the local ambitions, skills and energy from individuals, groups and organisations who want to make their area an even better place to live.
Big Local is being run by Local Trust, which is working with over £200m from the Big Lottery Fund and a range of partners providing expert advice and support for residents. The four programme outcomes for Big Local are:
- Communities will be better able to identify local needs and take action in response to them.
- People will have increased skills and confidence, so that they continue to identify and respond to needs in the future.
- The community will make a difference to the needs it prioritises.
- People will feel that their area is an even better place to live.
The Pimlico Million – Big Local Area
Pimlico has been chosen as a Big Local area. It’s an exciting opportunity for residents to use at least £1m to make a lasting positive change to our community. If you live in the area detailed below, it is up to you to say how you want this £1m spent.
What Sort Of Things Will The Money Be Spent On?
The short answer is almost anything that makes the local community a better place to live. The Pimlico Million could give out grants, social investments (e.g loans), or procure services in the community. To give just a handful of examples: it could be setting up a community-run café, or a neighbourhood watch scheme on an estate with a large number of older people, or a new sports club to give young people something active to do. The list really does go on and on.
